CHALLENGES

Company faced multiple challenges related to asset management, inconsistencies in maintenance schedules, frequent equipment downtime, and escalating operational costs. As a result, their overall operational efficiency was compromised, and the lack of a unified asset management strategy.

THE OBJECTIVES

The primary goals of the project were:
• To assess the current state of asset management practices across the company’s facilities.
• To identify gaps and inefficiencies in the existing asset management systems.
• To develop and implement a strategic asset management plan aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and optimizing asset performance.

OUR APPROACH

The approach was divided into several key phases:
1. Comprehensive Asset Management Audit
The first step involved a complete assessment of the company’s asset management practices. Assetonix gathered data on:
• Equipment reliability and performance history.
• Maintenance schedules and asset utilization.
• Existing supply chain management processes.
• The current state of asset management software and tools.
By conducting an in-depth audit, Assetonix identified critical bottlenecks such as uncoordinated maintenance practices, insufficient asset data, and a reactive maintenance culture that resulted in unplanned downtime.
2. Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) Analysis
To ensure a more proactive maintenance approach, Assetonix implemented a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategy. This involved:
• Analysing failure modes for key equipment to understand the causes of breakdowns.
• Optimizing maintenance schedules based on equipment reliability data.
• Implementing predictive maintenance technologies to forecast potential failures before they occurred.
This shift from reactive to proactive maintenance reduced the company’s downtime by 20% within the first three months of implementation.

3. Development of a Strategic Asset Management Plan
Once the audit and RCM analysis were complete, Assetonix developed a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) tailored to the company’s operations. The plan included:
• Clear asset management objectives aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
• An integrated asset management framework across all facilities to standardize practices.
• A detailed asset lifecycle management approach, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal strategies to ensure long-term asset performance.
4. Supply Chain Optimization
A key factor in the company’s asset management challenges was inefficiencies in its supply chain processes, particularly in acquiring replacement parts and materials for equipment maintenance. Assetonix streamlined the supply chain by:
• Improving vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of critical parts.
• Reducing lead times by consolidating orders and optimizing inventory levels.
• Implementing a supply chain management system that supported better forecasting and inventory planning.
The result was a 15% reduction in spare parts inventory costs and improved access to critical components when needed, further enhancing operational uptime.

THE RESULTS

The project delivered significant improvements in the company’s asset management and overall operational efficiency:

  • Downtime Reduction
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Cost Savings
  • Sustainable Asset Management
